أخبرنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن يعقوب، حَدَّثَنَا يحيى بن محمد بن يحيى، حَدَّثَنَا مُسدَّد، حَدَّثَنَا يحيى، عن هشام، عن يحيى بن أبي كثير، حدثني محمد بن إبراهيم، أنَّ خالد بن مَعْدان أخبره، أنَّ جُبير بن نُفير أخبره، أنَّ عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص أخبره: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ رأى عليه ثوبَينِ مُعصفَرين، فقال: "إِنَّ هذه (2) ثيابُ الكفار، فلا تَلْبَسْها" (3).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him wearing two garments dyed with safflower and said: "Indeed, these are the garments of the disbelievers, so do not wear them."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Note / Clarification: (2) The manuscripts have "hadha"; what is established here is taken from "Talkhis al-Dhahabi".
(3) إسناده صحيح. يحيى شيخ مسدد: هو القطان، وهشام: هو الدستوائي، ومحمد بن إبراهيم: هو ابن الحارث التيمي.
Grading: (3) Its chain is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Yahya, the shaykh of Musaddad, is "al-Qattan", Hisham is "al-Dastuwa'i", and Muhammad bin Ibrahim is "Ibn al-Harith al-Taymi".
وأخرجه أحمد 11/ (6513) عن يحيى بن سعيد القطان، بهذا الإسناد.
