حدَّثَناه أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حَدَّثَنَا بَحْر بن نَصر قال: عبد الله بن وهب قال: أخبرني مالك بن أنس، عن زيد بن أسلم، عن جابر بن عبد الله (3).
This same narration is also reported from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) with the chain of Imam Malik.

(3) رجاله ثقات، لكن اختلف في سماع زيد بن أسلم من جابر، فقال يحيى بن معين كما في "تاريخ الدوري": لم يسمع زيد من جابر، وقال علي بن الحسين بن الجنيد كما في "مراسيل ابن أبي حاتم": مرسل، بينما أثبت له السماع كلٌّ من ابن حبان في "صحيحه" عقب الحديث (5418) وابن عبد البر في "التمهيد" 3/ 251، وهما قد صحَّحا سماعه للمعاصَرة على مذهب مسلم ومن تبعه.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its narrators are thiqah (trustworthy), but there is disagreement over whether Zayd bin Aslam heard from Jabir. Yahya bin Ma'in said, as in "Tarikh al-Duri": "Zayd did not hear from Jabir". 'Ali bin al-Husayn bin al-Junayd said, as in "Marasil Ibn Abi Hatim": "It is mursal". Whereas Ibn Hibban in his "Sahih" after hadith (5418) and Ibn 'Abd al-Barr in "al-Tamhid" (3/ 251) affirmed his hearing, and the two of them considered his hearing sound on the basis of contemporaneity, which is the position of Imam Muslim and those who follow him.
وأخرجه مطولًا ابن حبان (5418) من طريق مالك بن أنس، بهذا الإسناد.
