أخبرنا أبو حاتم محمد بن حبّان القاضي، حدثنا زكريا بن يحيى الساجِيّ، حدثنا بِشر بن هلال، حدثنا عمر بن علي المُقدَّمي، قال: سمعت مَعْن بن محمد يحدِّث عن سعيد بن أبي سعيد المَقْبري، قال: كنتُ أنا وحنظلةُ بالبَقيع مع أبي هريرة، فحدثنا أبو هريرة بالبَقِيع عن رسولَ الله ﷺ أنه قال: "الطاعمُ الشاكرُ مثلُ الصائمِ الصابر" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who eats and is grateful is like the patient one who is fasting."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(1) إسناده حسن من أجل معن بن محمد: وهو الغفاري.
Grading: Its chain is hasan on account of the presence of "Ma'n bin Muhammad al-Ghifari".
وأخرجه الترمذي (2486) من طريق محمد بن معن عن أبيه معن بن محمد، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Tirmidhi narrated it in (2486) through the route of Muhammad bin Ma'n, from his father Ma'n bin Muhammad al-Ghifari, with this same chain.
وأخرجه أحمد 13/ (7806)، وابن حبان (315) من طريق معمر عن رجل من بني غفار، عن سعيد المقبري، به. لكن سقط الرجل الغفاري من سند ابن حبان قال الحافظ ابن حجر في "الفتح" 16/ 500: وهذا الرجل هو معن بن محمد الغفاري فيما أظن لاشتهار الحديث من طريقه.
Reference / Source: Ahmad narrated it in (13/ 7806) and Ibn Hibban in (315) through the route of Ma'mar, from a man of Ghifar, from Sa'id al-Maqburi.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): That "man of Ghifar" has dropped out of Ibn Hibban's chain. Ibn Hajar says in "Fath al-Bari" (16/ 500): In my opinion this man is Ma'n bin Muhammad al-Ghifari, because this hadith is well known through his route.
وسلف برقم (1551) من طريق مَعْن بن محمَّد عن حنظلة بن عليّ الأسلمي عن أبي هريرة.
Reference / Source: This report has also passed earlier under no. (1551) through the route of Ma'n bin Muhammad, from Hanzalah bin 'Ali al-Aslami, from Abu Hurayrah.
