Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Important point: In our manuscripts this word has been corrupted (erroneously) and written as "yansaf".
Grading: Its chain is weak.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Muhammad bin Ishaq is a "mudallis" and did not state explicitly that he heard it (he used 'an'anah). Moreover, there is disagreement over Nafi' as to whether it is marfu' or mawquf, and al-Daraqutni set out the best detail of this in "al-'Ilal" (2976). There is also disagreement in its wording, which will come in the sourcing.
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban in "al-Majruhin" (2/275) and al-Tabarani in "al-Awsat" (7856) narrated it with this same chain through two routes via Wahb bin Baqiyyah.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Tabarani states that only Muhammad bin al-Hasan narrated this hadith from Muhammad bin Ishaq, and Wahb bin Baqiyyah is alone in narrating it. As for Ibn Hibban, he was alone in declaring Muhammad bin al-Hasan al-Muzani weak, and on that basis he declared the hadith defective (ma'lul), and he considered it correct that it is "mawquf".
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Tabarani in "al-Awsat" (8234) and "al-Saghir" (20), and by Ibn Adi in "al-Kamil" (4/230) through the route of Abdullah bin Nasr al-Antaki, from Abu Usamah Hammad bin Usamah, from Ubaydullah bin Umar, from Nafi'.
Details of the narration: It does not contain the words "ash'ara" (its hair has grown), but rather the words "wa-lakinnahu yudhbah" (but it is to be slaughtered).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Tabarani says that only Abu Usamah narrated it from Ubaydullah bin Umar, and Abdullah bin Nasr is alone in narrating it from Abu Usamah. Ibn Adi says that this narration is known only through Abdullah bin Nasr, and he counted it among his "munkar" narrations.
Note / Clarification: We say: this narration is also reported from Ubaydullah bin Umar through other routes.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ibn al-Muqri' in his "Mu'jam" (842), al-Daraqutni in his "Sunan" (4731), Tammam in his "Fawa'id" (623) and (625), and al-Bayhaqi (9/335) through two routes via Mubarak bin Mujahid from Ubaydullah bin Umar.
Details of the narration: Its wording is: "Its slaughter is the slaughter of its mother, whether its hair has grown or not"; however, the narration of Ibn al-Muqri' is abridged.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Although Mubarak bin Mujahid is weak, he is taken into consideration in corroborating chains and supporting reports.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Tabarani in "al-Awsat" (9453) and "al-Saghir" (1067), Abu al-Shaykh in "Tabaqat al-Muhaddithin" (229) and Abu Nu'aym in "Tarikh Asbahan" (2/247) through the route of Muhammad bin Muslim al-Ta'ifi, from Ayyub bin Musa, from Nafi'.
Details of the narration: It is narrated with the abridged wording: "The slaughter of the fetus is the slaughter of its mother".
Grading: In corroborating chains and supporting reports, this chain too is "hasan".
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Malik (2/490), al-Bayhaqi (9/335) (through his route), Abd al-Razzaq (8642) through the route of Ayyub al-Sakhtiyani, Musaddad in his "Musnad" (as in "Ithaf al-Khiyarah" 1/4682), Ibn al-Muqri' in "al-Mu'jam" (1286) through the route of al-Layth bin Sa'd, and al-Bayhaqi (9/335) through the route of Abdullah bin Umar al-Umari.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): These four narrators narrated it from Nafi', from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) as his own statement (mawquf). Al-Bayhaqi, and before him al-Daraqutni in "al-'Ilal" (2976), declared it correct that it is mawquf.
Important point: For this discussion, see the narrations before and after it.
Reference / Source: We have discussed the hadith of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) in detail in "Musnad Ahmad". Ahmad narrated it from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri through two routes: one is the route of Atiyyah al-Awfi, which al-Hakim mentioned (number 11414), and the other is the route of Abu al-Waddak Jabr bin Nawf (numbers 11260, 11343, 11495).
