The fondness of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for meat
Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7272

حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا الربيع بن سليمان، حدثنا أسد بن موسى، حدثنا أبو هلال محمد بن سُليم، حدثنا إسحاق بن عبد الله بن أبي طلحة، عن جابر قال: جعَلْنا للنبيِّ ﷺ فَخّارةً، فأتيتُه بها، فاطَّلع في جوفها فقال: "حَسِبتُه لحمًا" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد إن كان إسحاق بن أبي طلحة سمع من جابر، ولم يخرجاه. وفيه البيانُ الواضح لمحبَّة رسولِ الله ﷺ اللحمَ. وشاهدُه:

هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد إن كان إسحاق بن أبي طلحة سمع من جابر، ولم يخرجاه. وفيه البيانُ الواضح لمحبَّة رسولِ الله ﷺ اللحمَ. وشاهدُه:

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: We prepared an earthenware pot (of food) for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I brought it to him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) looked inside it and said: "I thought it was meat."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, provided that Ishaq bin Abi Talhah's hearing from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) is established, and the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it. This hadith contains a clear statement of the Messenger of Allah's (peace and blessings be upon him) liking and love for meat, and its supporting narration (shahid) is as follows:
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, provided that Ishaq bin Abi Talhah's hearing from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) is established, and the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it. (1) حديث صحيح، وهذا إسناد حسن من أجل أبي هلال محمد بن سليم: وهو الراسبي.
Grading: The hadith is sahih, and this chain is "hasan" because of Abu Hilal Muhammad bin Sulaym al-Rasibi.
وأخرجه أحمد 22 / (14581) عن عبد الصمد بن عبد الوارث، عن محمد بن سليم، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad (22/14581) through the route of Abd al-Samad bin Abd al-Warith from Muhammad bin Sulaym with this same chain.
ويشهد له ما سيورده المصنف برقم (7276) من طريق عمرو بن دينار عن جابر، وفيه قصة، وذكر فيه بدل الفخّارة الخَزيرة، وذكرنا معناها في الحديث السابق.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Its supporting report is what the author (al-Hakim) will bring later at number (7276) through the route of Amr bin Dinar from Jabir; it contains a story, and there "khazirah" is mentioned instead of "fakhkharah", the meaning of which we have explained in the previous hadith.
