It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: My father said to my mother: If only you would prepare some food for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (that would be good). So she prepared tharid (and the narrator indicated with his hand that it was little). My father went and invited him (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his hand (on the food) and said: "Eat with the name of Allah (saying Bismillah)." So they all began eating from its sides. When they had finished eating, he (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated for them: 'Allahumma-ghfir lahum warhamhum wa barik lahum warzuqhum' (O Allah, forgive them, have mercy on them, bless them (in their provision) and grant them provision).
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Important point: In our manuscripts this passage reads as follows: "فصنعت بيده ثريدة يقلل".
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Reference / Source: Imam al-Nasa'i (6730) and Ibn Hibban (5299) narrated it through two routes from Isa bin Yunus, with this same chain. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it at length in 29/(17678) by way of Abu al-Mughirah, from Safwan. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Imam al-Nasa'i (6731) narrated it by way of Baqiyyah bin al-Walid, who added "al-Azhar bin Abdullah" between Safwan and Abdullah bin Busr, and this addition contradicts the narration of the majority of narrators (the group). Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (17683), Muslim (2042), Abu Dawud (3729), al-Tirmidhi (3576), al-Nasa'i (10051, 10052) and Ibn Hibban (5297, 5298) narrated it in a similar form by way of Shu'bah, from Yazid bin Khumayr, from Abdullah bin Busr. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Imam Ahmad (17696) and al-Nasa'i (10050) narrated it by way of Shu'bah, in which Abdullah bin Busr mentions his father "Busr" as an intermediary, so it became part of the "Musnad of Busr"; but the mention of Busr in it is "not preserved" (ghayr mahfuz), because the group of narrators narrating from Shu'bah, from Ibn Khumayr, did not mention Busr, and that (the narration without mention of Busr) is the preserved one. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (17673) and al-Nasa'i (10053) narrated it in abridged form by way of Hisham bin Yusuf, from Abdullah bin Busr.
