Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7221

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that nothing was more hateful to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) than lying. Whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) perceived even a little lying in someone, he would keep that person distant from his heart until he renewed his repentance before Allah.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Important point: In our manuscripts it is "جرّب", while we have recorded it in the text according to Imam al-Dhahabi's "Talkhis".

Technical note / Defect ('illah): All its narrators are thiqah (trustworthy), but Muhammad bin Sirin did not hear from A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her). There is disagreement over its chain from Ayyub al-Sakhtiyani, as we have explained in "Musnad Ahmad" (42/25183), where it is narrated through him from Ibn Abi Mulaykah (or someone else), from A'ishah. In the view of Imam al-Bukhari in "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" (1/49), Abu Hatim in "al-Ilal" (2198, 2336) and al-Daraqutni in "al-Ilal" (370), this narration of Ibn Abi Mulaykah from A'ishah is not sahih; rather, the correct version is that it is Ayyub's narration from Ibrahim bin Maysarah, and Ibrahim's narration from A'ishah is "munqati'" (disconnected). Therefore, the authentication of the chain of Ibn Abi Mulaykah that occurred in "Musnad Ahmad" is based on "tasahul" (leniency), and it should be corrected from here.
Reference / Source: This narration is found in the "Jami'" of Abdullah bin Wahb (533 - Abu al-Khayr).
Reference / Source: Through him, Ibn Abi Hatim in "al-Ilal" (2336) and Ibn Abd al-Barr in "al-Tamhid" (16/256) and "al-Istidhkar" (27/355-356) recorded it.
