Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 721

Abdullah bin Fadalah narrates from his father, Sayyiduna Fadalah (may Allah be pleased with him): the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught me (the religion), and among what he (peace and blessings be upon him) taught me was: "Guard the five prayers." I said: "At these times I have some occupations, so tell me something comprehensive which, if I do it, will suffice for me (in fulfilling the obligation)." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Guard the two Asrs (al-asrayn)." This was not used in our dialect, so I asked: "What are the two Asrs?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A prayer before sunrise (Fajr) and a prayer before sunset (Asr)."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
