It is narrated from Sayyiduna Iyad bin Himar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say in his sermon: "The people of Paradise are of three kinds: a ruler who is just, gives charity and is granted success in good deeds; second, a merciful man whose heart is tender towards every relative; and third, a poor man who is chaste ('afif)."
This hadith is sahih al-isnad (authentic in its chain), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In our manuscripts the word "wa-musaddiq" is written with a waw, joined to "muqsit", but according to the other sources of referencing, dropping the waw is preferable. In some narrations it is also written as "mutasaddiq", without the assimilation (idgham).
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Technical note / Defect ('illah): 'Abu Umar al-Hawdi' is Hafs bin Umar, 'Hammam' is Hammam bin Yahya al-'Awdhi, and 'Mutarrif' is (the famous Successor) Mutarrif bin Abd Allah bin al-Shikhkhir. Reference / Source: Imam Ibn Hibban narrated it at (653) via Abu Khalifah from Hafs bin Umar al-Hawdi, with this same chain, at length (mutawwalan). Details of the narration: Imam Ahmad narrated it at length in the "Musnad" (30/18340) from Affan bin Muslim, from Hammam, from Qatadah, via al-'Ala' bin Ziyad, Yazid (the brother of Mutarrif) and Uqbah bin Abd al-Ghafir, from Mutarrif. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (29/17484, 17485, 17490), Imam Muslim (2865/63-64), Imam al-Nasa'i (8016) and Ibn Hibban (7453) narrated it briefly and at length through routes of Qatadah from Mutarrif. Technical note / Defect ('illah): These imams did not mention the intermediary between Qatadah and Mutarrif, while in Shu'bah's narration in Muslim, Qatadah explicitly states that he heard it from Mutarrif; but this is an 'error' (wahm) of Imam Shu'bah, which is made clear by Hammam's narration in Imam Ahmad (at 18340). Note / Clarification: Imam al-Hakim's adding this hadith as a supplement despite Imam Muslim having recorded it is an 'oversight' (dhuhul) on his part. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (30/18339), al-Nasa'i (8017) and Ibn Hibban (654) narrated it via al-Hasan (al-Basri) from Mutarrif.
