Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7163

أخبرني أبو عبد الله محمد بن علي الصنعاني، بمكة، حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم بن عبَّاد، أخبرنا عبد الرزاق، أخبرنا مَعمَر، عن بَهْز بن حَكيم بن معاوية، عن أبيه، عن جدِّه: أنه سمع النبيِّ ﷺ في قول الله ﷿: ﴿كُنتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ﴾ [آل عمران:110] قال: "أنتم تُتِمُّون سبعينَ أمةً، أنتم خيرُها وأكرمُها على الله ﷿" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. وقد تابع سعيدُ بن إياس الجُرَيري بهذا في روايته عن أبيه، وأتى بزيادة في المتن:

Hakim bin Mu'awiyah narrates from his father that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say concerning this statement of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, "You are the best nation brought forth for mankind" [Surah Al Imran: 110]: "You will complete seventy nations; you are the best of them and the most honored of them in the sight of Allah, Mighty and Majestic."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Grading: Its chain is "hasan".
وأخرجه الترمذي (3001) عن عبد بن حميد، عن عبد الرزاق، بهذا الإسناد. وقال: حديث حسن، وقد روى غير واحد هذا الحديث عن بهز بن حكيم نحو هذا، ولم يذكروا فيه: ﴿كُنتُمْ خَيْرَ أُمَّةٍ أُخْرِجَتْ لِلنَّاسِ﴾.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Tirmidhi (3001) with the chain Abd bin Humayd, from Abd al-Razzaq, and he called it "hasan".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Several narrators narrated it from Bahz bin Hakim, but none of them mentioned the verse "Kuntum khayra ummatin ukhrijat li-l-nas" (You are the best nation brought forth for mankind).
وأخرجه أحمد 33 / (20029) و (20049)، وابن ماجه (4287) و (4288) من طرق عن بهز بن حكيم به. لم يذكر أحد منهم الآية.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad 33/ (20029, 20049) and Ibn Majah (4287, 4288) by various routes from Bahz bin Hakim, and none of them mentioned the verse either.
وأخرجه ضمن حديث مطول أحمد (20011)، والنسائي (11367) من طريق عمرو بن دينار، عن حكيم بن معاوية، به.
Details of the narration: Ahmad (20011) and al-Nasa'i (11367) narrated it as part of a long hadith with the chain Amr bin Dinar, from Hakim bin Mu'awiyah.
