It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Aslam, Ghifar, Ashja', Muzaynah, Juhaynah and those who are of Banu Ka'b are all my mawla (close friends and devoted supporters) to the exclusion of other people, and Allah and His Messenger are their mawla."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim).

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The word "Aslam" had dropped out of our manuscripts; we established it from al-Dhahabi's "al-Talkhis", and this is the narration of most narrators from Yazid bin Harun.

Grading: Its chain is "sahih".
Important point: Abu Malik al-Ashja'i is "Sa'd bin Tariq".
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad 38/ (23543), Muslim (2519) and al-Tirmidhi (3940) by various routes from Yazid bin Harun, with this chain.
Details of the narration: Muslim and al-Tirmidhi mentioned "the Ansar" in place of "Aslam"; the narration of Muslim has the words "and whoever is from Banu Abdullah", and the narration of al-Tirmidhi "and whoever is from Banu Abd al-Dar", and al-Tirmidhi declared it "hasan sahih".
Note / Clarification: The author's (al-Hakim's) including this narration as a supplement (istidrak) to the Sahih is an "oversight" (dhuhul), since it is already in the Sahih (of Muslim).

Note / Clarification: See also the discussion that comes after it.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is also a narration from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) found in al-Bukhari (3504) and Muslim (2520), in which they also added Quraysh and the Ansar.
