Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is "muzlim" (dark, i.e. extremely weak).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): We could not find a biography for al-Minhal bin Ubaydullah, and his teacher is "unnamed" (mubham). Our strong assumption is that he is "Abu Abdullah al-Madani", as he is named in some narrations. About Layla (the freedwoman of Aishah), Ibn Abd al-Barr said in "al-Isti'ab" p. 936 that the chain of her hadith is not sound; Abu Abdullah al-Madani narrated from her, and he is "majhul" (unknown). Ibn Kathir said in "al-Bidayah wa al-Nihayah" 8/ 296 that Abu Nu'aym narrated it by way of Abu Abdullah al-Madani (who is one of the unknown narrators) from her.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Abu Nu'aym in "Tarikh Asbahan" 1/ 176 with the chain Abd al-Rahim bin Waqid, from Abd al-Karim, from Abu Abdullah, from Layla the freedwoman of Aishah, from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), (stating) that the bodies of the prophets were built upon the spirits of Paradise, and whatever comes out of them the earth swallows.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): About Abd al-Rahim bin Waqid, al-Khatib al-Baghdadi said that his hadith contains "ghara'ib and manakir" (odd and denounced reports) because he narrates from weak and unknown narrators. Ibn Hibban said of Abd al-Karim that his hadith is sound (mustaqim al-hadith), but al-Azdi declared him "wahi al-hadith" (very weak), and Abu Abdullah, as stated earlier, is "majhul".
Reference / Source: Likewise it was narrated by Ibn Sa'd in "al-Tabaqat" 1/ 144, al-Tabarani in "al-Mu'jam al-Awsat" (7835), and Abu Nu'aym in "Tarikh Asbahan" 1/ 211 and in "Dala'il al-Nubuwwah" (364), with the chain Isma'il bin Aban, from Anbasah bin Abd al-Rahman, from Muhammad bin Zadhan, from Umm Sa'd, from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). Al-Tabarani said that this hadith is narrated only with this chain, and Isma'il bin Aban is alone in narrating it.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): We say: its chain is "halik" (ruined, i.e. severely weak); Anbasah and his teacher Muhammad bin Zadhan are both "matruk" (abandoned) narrators.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ibn Hibban in "al-Majruhin" 1/ 246 - 247, Ibn Adi in "al-Kamil" 3/ 232, al-Bayhaqi in "al-Dala'il" 6/ 70 and al-Khatib al-Baghdadi in "Tarikh Baghdad" 8/ 607 (and by way of him Ibn al-Jawzi in "al-'Ilal al-Mutanahiyah" (288)), with the chain al-Husayn bin Alwan, from Hisham bin Urwah, from Urwah bin al-Zubayr, from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), in similar wording.
Grading: Al-Bayhaqi said that this is one of the "fabrications" (mawdu'at) of "al-Husayn bin Alwan" and it should not be mentioned; the authentic miracles of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) make the lies of Ibn Alwan unnecessary.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Husayn bin Alwan was declared a "liar" (kadhdhab) by Ibn Ma'in and others. Al-Daraqutni narrated it in "al-Afrad" by way of Muhammad bin Hassan al-Umawi, about whom Ibn Hajar in "Lisan al-Mizan" 7/ 59 reported Ibn al-Jawzi's statement that he is a liar, and made no comment on it.
Grading: This report is "makdhub" (a lie).
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Sahmi in "Tarikh Jurjan" p. 526 with the chain Abdullah bin al-Layth, from Ishaq bin al-Salt, from Malik bin Anas, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abdullah bin al-Layth is mentioned only by al-Sahmi and he is "majhul"; no criticism or praise of him is known. His teacher Ishaq bin al-Salt brought a "very munkar" report in the name of Malik, as al-Dhahabi mentioned in "al-Mizan" 1/ 192 and Ibn Hajar in "al-Lisan" 2/ 62; the chain leading up to him is "muzlim" (dark).
