Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7125

It is narrated from Muhammad bin al-Munkadir that Sayyidah Umaymah (may Allah be pleased with her), the maternal aunt of Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), said: We pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) took from us the pledge that we would not associate anything with Allah. After that, the narrator mentioned a report similar to the hadith of Ibn Ishaq.
Mention of Sayyidah Barirah (may Allah be pleased with her), the freed slave-woman of Sayyidah Aishah. The two Shaykhs agreed on this hadith of Yazid bin Ruman from Urwah, that Barirah said: Three rulings of the Sunnah came about concerning me: meat was given to me as charity, and I gifted it to Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), and so on (it is a long hadith), in which the wala' and the nine uqiyahs of the mukatabah (freedom contract) are mentioned.
Mention of Layla, the slave-woman of Sayyidah Aishah.

Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is "hasan" in corroborating narrations (mutaba'at).
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Tabari in his "Tafsir" 28/ 80 from Muhammad bin al-Ala', from Yunus bin Bukayr, with this chain.

Technical note / Defect ('illah): The author (al-Hakim) (may Allah have mercy on him) made an error (wahm) in attributing this narration by this route to the two Shaykhs (al-Bukhari and Muslim).
Reference / Source: This narration is in Sunan al-Nasa'i (4998) with the chain Amr bin Ali, from Abd al-Wahhab al-Thaqafi, from Ubaydullah bin Umar, from Yazid bin Ruman, from Urwah, from Barirah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said: Three sunnahs were established through me: I was given meat as charity, which I gave as a gift to Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What is this meat?" It was said: It was given to Barirah as charity and she gave it to us as a gift. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is charity for Barirah and a gift for us." And I had made a contract of manumission (mukatabah) for nine uqiyahs (the full story).
Important point: Al-Mizzi reported in "Tuhfat al-Ashraf" (15784) that al-Nasa'i said after it: "This narration of Yazid bin Ruman is an error." That is, the correct version is Urwah from Aishah, not Urwah from Barirah.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Likewise, Wuhayb bin Khalid narrated it in the "correct" way, contradicting Abd al-Wahhab al-Thaqafi.
Reference / Source: It is narrated in abridged form in Sahih Muslim (1504) (13) and al-Nasa'i (5616) with the chain Ubaydullah bin Umar, from Yazid bin Ruman, from Urwah, from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her); he made it a hadith of Aishah. Others also narrated it by routes other than that of Urwah.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad 40/ (24187), al-Bukhari (2578), Muslim (1504) (10) and Ibn Hibban (4269, 5115) by way of Abd al-Rahman bin al-Qasim, from al-Qasim bin Muhammad, from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), that three rulings were made in the case of Barirah (the text of the hadith).
Reference / Source: Similarly it was narrated by Ahmad 42/ (25452, 25468), al-Bukhari (5097, 5279, 5430), Muslim (1504) (14), Ibn Majah (2076), al-Nasa'i (5611) and Ibn Hibban (5116) by several routes from al-Qasim, from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her).
Reference / Source: Al-Aswad narrated it in abridged form from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), as found in Musnad Ahmad (25426), Sahih al-Bukhari (1493) and elsewhere.
