Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts it was distorted here and written as "Sa'id".
Note / Clarification: The Divine Name (Allah) has been added on the basis of manuscript (S) alone.
Grading: Its chain is weak and its text is "munkar" (unacceptable).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): About Sa'd Abu 'Asim (Ibn Ziyad), Abu Hatim says that his hadith is to be written but he is not a firm (matin) narrator. About Nafi' (the mawla of Hamnah), Imam al-Bukhari and Ibn Abi Hatim mentioned neither criticism nor praise; although Ibn Hibban placed him in "al-Thiqat", since only two narrators narrated from him, he is "majhul al-hal" (of unknown condition).
Reference / Source: Al-Hakim al-Tirmidhi narrated it in his book "Nawadir al-Usul" (361) through Muhammad bin Musa al-Harashi, with this same chain.
Reference / Source: Al-Tayalisi narrated it in his Musnad (1740), Ibn Shabbah in "Tarikh al-Madinah" 1/ 91-92, Ibn Abi Khaythamah in "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" 2/ 824, and al-Tabarani in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" 25/ (445), via various routes from Sa'd Abu 'Asim (Sa'd bin Ziyad) with this same chain.
Details of the narration: In the first narration of Ibn Shabbah there is this addition: Sa'd says: I asked her (Hamnah): Why did he (peace and blessings be upon him) not say the same for the other man? She replied: I think he was a hypocrite.
Important point: What is "mahfuz" (preserved and authentic) in this hadith is what al-Bukhari (5705) and Muslim (220) narrated from Ibn Abbas, and Muslim (218) from 'Imran bin Husayn, and what will come later in the hadith of Ibn Mas'ud with al-Hakim (8483): that "the seventy thousand who will enter Paradise without reckoning are those who do not seek ruqyah, do not take evil omens, do not have themselves cauterised, and put their trust in their Lord". This virtue is not specific to the people of Baqi' al-Gharqad, and the story of 'Ukkashah (bin Mihsan) is also mentioned in these same hadiths.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): There is disagreement over the precise spelling of her name and her father's name. Imam al-Daraqutni said in "al-Mu'talif wa al-Mukhtalif" 2/ 899 that the correct name is "Judamah" (with jim and dal), bint Wahb al-Asadiyyah, who narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and from whom the Mother of the Believers 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated. Whoever read it with "dhal" (Judhamah) has made a distortion (tashif).
Important point: Imam Muslim, after Sahih Muslim (1442), also declared "dal" (Judamah) correct, citing Yahya bin Yahya al-Naysaburi.
Note / Clarification: Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar considered them two separate persons: one "Judamah" bint Wahb, and the other (with kha') "Khudamah" bint Jandal. The author of al-Qamus also mentioned three female Companions named "Judamah" (bint Wahb, bint Jandal, bint al-Harith).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Suhayli transmitted in "al-Rawd al-Unuf" 4/ 168 from Abu 'Umar al-Zahid that "jaddamah" (with doubled dal) is the tip of a palm branch. According to al-Suhayli, "Judamah bint Jandal" is not found in the family of Jahsh or any other family; perhaps this is a scribal error (wahm), and she is actually "Judamah bint Wahb bin Mihsan", the niece of 'Ukkashah.
