أخبرنا أبو النضر الفقيه، حدثنا علي بن عبد العزيز، حدثنا أبو عبيد (2) قال: وزعم حفص بن النضر السُّلمي وعبد القاهر بن السَّرِي السلمي: أنَّ النَّبيَّ ﷺ تزوّج سَبَا بنتَ أسماء بن الصلت السلمية، فماتت قبل أن يَدخُل بها (3). [ذكر الكلابية أو الكندية] فقد اختلف في اسمها كما اختلف في قبيلتها، وآخر ذلك سمَّتْ نفسها الشَّقيَّة، وبذلك عُرفت إلى أن ماتت.
It is narrated from Hafs bin al-Nadr al-Sulami and Abd al-Qahir bin al-Sari al-Sulami that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Saba bint Asma' bin al-Salt al-Sulamiyyah, but she passed away before the marriage was consummated.

(2) هو القاسم بن سلام، وهو الذي يروي عنه علي بن عبد العزيز البغوي، وقد روى هذا الخبر كل من أبي عبيد القاسم بن سلام، وأبي عبيدة معمر بن المثنى، كما سيأتي، وذكره الذهبي في "السير" 2/ 256 عن القاسم بن سلام أبي عبيد، وذكره ابن عبد البر في "الاستيعاب" ص 910، وابن حجر في "الإصابة" 4/ 1865 عن أبي عبيدة معمر بن المثنى.
Note / Clarification: The one meant here is "al-Qasim bin Sallam", from whom 'Ali bin 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Baghawi narrates. This report was narrated by both "Abu 'Ubayd al-Qasim bin Sallam" and "Abu 'Ubaydah Ma'mar bin al-Muthanna", as will come. Al-Dhahabi mentioned it in "al-Siyar" (2/ 256) from al-Qasim bin Sallam Abu 'Ubayd, while Ibn 'Abd al-Barr in "al-Isti'ab" (p. 910) and Ibn Hajar in "al-Isabah" (4/ 1865) mentioned it from Abu 'Ubaydah Ma'mar bin al-Muthanna.
(3) أخرجه الدَّارَقُطْنيّ في "المؤتلف والمختلف" 3/ 1320 من طريق ابن أبي خيثمة قال: ذكر الأثرم أبو الحسن، عن أبي عبيدة معمر بن المثنى.
Reference / Source: Al-Daraqutni recorded it in "al-Mu'talif wa al-Mukhtalif" (3/ 1320) by way of Ibn Abi Khaythamah, who said: al-Athram Abu al-Hasan mentioned from Abu 'Ubaydah Ma'mar bin al-Muthanna.
وأخرجه ابن منده في "معرفة الصحابة" ص 978 - ومن طريقه ابن عساكر في "تاريخه" 3/ 230 - من طريق عبد الواحد بن عبد الله المحاربي، عن حفص بن النضر، عن قتادة، قال: تزوج رسول الله ﷺ سبا بنت أسماء بن الصلت السلمية.
Reference / Source: Ibn Mandah recorded it in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (p. 978) — and by way of him Ibn 'Asakir in his "Tarikh" (3/ 230) — by way of 'Abd al-Wahid bin 'Abd Allah al-Muharibi, from Hafs bin al-Nadr, from Qatadah, who said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married Saba bint Asma' bin al-Salt al-Sulamiyyah."
وأخرجه أبو نعيم في "معرفة الصحابة" (7467)، والبيهقي في "الدلائل" 7/ 288 من طريق زهير بن العلاء، عن سعيد بن أبي عروبة، عن قتادة قال: وتزوج أسماء بنت الصلت من بني حرام من بني سليم، فتوفيت قبل أن يدخل بها وزهير ضعيف كما سبق غير مرة. ثم قال: وقال حفص بن النضر عن قتادة: تزوج سبا بنت أسماء بن الصلت السلمية.
Reference / Source: Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (7467) and al-Bayhaqi in "al-Dala'il" (7/ 288) recorded it by way of Zuhayr bin al-'Ala', from Sa'id bin Abi 'Arubah, from Qatadah, who said: "He (peace and blessings be upon him) married Asma' bint al-Salt, of Banu Haram of Banu Sulaym, and she died before he consummated the marriage."
Grading: Note that Zuhayr is a "da'if" narrator, as has passed more than once. Then he said: And Hafs bin al-Nadr narrated from Qatadah (about the name): "He (peace and blessings be upon him) married 'Saba' bint Asma' bin al-Salt al-Sulamiyyah."
