فأخبرني مخلد بن جعفر الباقَرْحيُّ، حدّثنا محمد بن جَرير الفقيه، حدَّثني الحارث بن محمد، حدّثنا محمد بن سعد، حدّثنا محمد بن عمر، حدَّثني إسحاق بن محمد، عن جعفر بن محمد بن عليّ، عن أبيه قال: بعثَ رسولُ الله ﷺ عمرَو بن أُميّة الضَّمْري إلى النجاشي يَخطُب عليه أمَّ حبيبة بنت أبي سفيان، وكانتَ تحت عُبيد الله بن جَحْش، فزوَّجها إياه، وأصدَقَها النجاشيُّ من عنده عن رسول الله ﷺ أربعَ مئة دينار (2). قال أبو جعفر محمد بن جرير: فما نُرَى عبد الملك بن مروان وَقَّتَ صَدَاق النِّساء أربع مئة دينار إلَّا لذلك.
Ja'far bin Muhammad bin Ali narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Amr bin Umayyah al-Damri to the Negus so that he might convey a marriage proposal on behalf of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to Sayyidah Umm Habibah bint Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with her). At that time she had been married to Ubaydullah bin Jahsh. So the Negus married her (to him) and, from his own resources, paid her dowry of four hundred dinars on behalf of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Abu Ja'far Muhammad bin Jarir says: We think that when Abd al-Malik bin Marwan fixed the dowry of women at four hundred dinars, it was in following this very event.

(2) خبر صحيح، وهذا إسناد ضعيف الحارث بن محمد هو ابن أبي أسامة، وإسحاق بن محمد: هو ابن عبد الرحمن المخزومي.
Grading: (2) This report is "sahih", but this chain is "da'if".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Harith bin Muhammad is Ibn Abi Usamah, and Ishaq bin Muhammad is Ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Makhzumi.
وأخرجه ابن سعد في "الطبقات" 10/ 96 - ومن طريقه الطبري في "تاريخه" 11/ 606، وابن عساكر 69/ 138 - عن الواقديّ، بهذا الإسناد. وانظر ما سلف برقم (6963) وكلام الحافظ ابن حجر الذي نقلناه هناك. وانظر ما سلف برقم (2776).
