It is narrated from Masruq that Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "I saw myself in a dream on a hill, with cows being slaughtered around me." I said to her: "If your dream is true, there will be a bloody battle around you." She said: "I seek refuge with Allah from your evil! What an evil thing you have said!" I said to her: "Perhaps, if such a matter did happen, they would show you regard and respect?" She said: "By Allah! Falling from the sky is more beloved to me than doing that." Later, when it was mentioned in her presence that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) had killed Dhu al-Thudayyah (the Kharijite), she said to me: "When you go to Kufah, write down for me the names of people who witnessed that event, from among the people of the city whom you know." When I arrived there, I found the people divided into various factions, so I wrote down from each faction ten people who had witnessed it. Masruq said: I came to her with their testimonies, and she said: "May Allah Almighty curse Amr bin al-As, for he claimed to me that he had killed him in Egypt."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (1) Thus it is in manuscripts (Z) and (B), while it has dropped out of (M) and (S). In the Mahmudiyyah manuscript (as in the al-Mayman edition) the wording is "sa-yasu'uki" (they will soon grieve you).
2/ 200. Technical note / Defect ('illah): (2) In our manuscripts this word has been corrupted into "sab'" (seven), while it appears correctly in "Siyar A'lam al-Nubala'" (2/ 200).
Grading: (3) Its chain is "sahih". Technical note / Defect ('illah): Muhammad bin Ishaq al-Thaqafi is Ibn Ibrahim bin Mihran al-Sarraj, Jarir is Ibn Abd al-Hamid al-Dabbi, and Abu Wa'il is Shaqiq bin Salamah. Reference / Source: It was narrated in abridged form by al-Ajurri in "al-Shari'ah" (56, 1570) via Yazid bin Abi Ziyad, from Sa'id bin Jubayr, from Masruq, with the same chain. Grading: The narrator Yazid bin Abi Ziyad is "da'if". 6/ 488. Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi likewise narrated it in "Dala'il al-Nubuwwah" (6/ 434-435) via al-Hakam bin Utaybah and Abd Allah bin Abi al-Safar, from al-Sha'bi, from Masruq, with the same chain. Technical note / Defect ('illah): In its chain is Muhammad bin Aban bin Salih, who is "da'if"; he has a biography in "Lisan al-Mizan" (6/ 488). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Mujalid bin Sa'id differed from the two of them (as in Ibn Abi Shaybah: 11/ 72, Nu'aym bin Hammad in "al-Fitan": 182, and Ibn Abi al-Dunya in "Manazil al-Ashraf": 361). He narrated it from al-Sha'bi with a "mu'dal" chain (two or more consecutive narrators missing) in these words: Aishah said to Abu Bakr: "I saw (in a dream) as if I were on a hillock with cattle being slaughtered around me." Abu Bakr said: "If your dream is true, a large multitude of people will be killed around you." Grading: Mujalid is also a "da'if" narrator. (2715). Note / Clarification: For the report about "al-Mukhdaj" (the man with the deficient arm), known as "Dhu al-Thudayyah", see the previous hadith number (2715).
