(1). It is narrated from Ibn Abi Mulaykah that he said: We said to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): You are the daughter of al-Siddiq; you compose poetry and state its meaning with certainty, and you also have knowledge of medicine, so how did you acquire this knowledge? She said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was often ill, and various delegations of the Arabs would come to him and prescribe different things for him (peace and blessings be upon him) (as treatment), and I would memorise them.

Note / Clarification: (4) In the manuscripts available to us this word is "tablutī" (without the nun), but we have written it according to the standard usage ("tablutīna"). General principle: The meaning of "la tablutīna" is that you are one possessed of argument (who speaks convincingly) and are not left speechless in debate. According to the author of "al-Muhkam" (9/ 498) (Ibn Sidah): the word "balata" is used when a person is left speechless and falls silent, while "al-balit" is the eloquent person who silences people (with his arguments).
Grading: (1) Its chain is "da'if". Technical note / Defect ('illah): A group of thiqah narrators (such as al-Tabarani, Abu al-Shaykh, Ibn Qani' and al-Isma'ili) narrated from the narrator Musabbih bin Hatim, and al-Daraqutni described him as a Basran akhbari (transmitter of historical reports). However, "Hammad bin al-Arqat" in the chain is not mentioned in the books of narrators; the predominant opinion is that it is a corrupted form of "Khallad bin Yazid al-Arqat". But in the routes via Khallad this narration is from Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman (al-Mulayki), from Urwah, from Aishah, not via Ibn Abi Mulaykah. It appears that there is an error (wahm) in al-Hakim's narration, and Allah knows best. Moreover, Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman al-Mulayki is himself a weak narrator. Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Bazzar (Kashf al-Astar: 2662) and al-Tabarani in "al-Mu'jam al-Awsat" (6067) - and from him Abu Nu'aym (59) - via Khallad bin Yazid al-Bahili, from Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman (the husband of Jabrah), from Urwah bin al-Zubayr, from Aishah. Al-Tabarani said that no one narrated it from Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman al-Mulayki except Khallad bin Yazid al-Bahili. Important point: The well-known route of this report is Urwah bin al-Zubayr from Aishah, as will come with the author (al-Hakim) under number (7614), and there we have mentioned its correct wording. Technical note / Defect ('illah): As for the route of Ibn Abi Mulaykah (Abd Allah bin Ubayd Allah), Abd Allah bin al-Mu'ammal narrated it from him, from Aishah, and it is found in Ibn Sa'd ("al-Tabaqat" 1/ 348), Ibn Adi ("al-Kamil" 4/ 137) and Abu Nu'aym ("al-Tibb" 61). Grading: Abd Allah bin al-Mu'ammal is a weak narrator.
