Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: (1) This text is established from manuscript (B), whereas in manuscript (M) the word is distorted into "Yazid", and in manuscript (S) into "Marthad".
Note / Clarification: (2) In the handwritten manuscripts it is written "Khalid bin Sabalan", which is an error, because "Sabalan" is Khalid's nickname; see Ibn Hajar's "Nuzhat al-Alqab" (1456).
Grading: (3) This hadith is "sahih li-ghayrihi" (authentic due to other reports), while this chain is da'if (weak).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Khalid Sabalan's name is Khalid bin Abdullah bin al-Faraj; two narrators narrated from him, and Ibn Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" 16/ 134 transmitted his authentication (tawthiq) from Abu Mushir al-Dimashqi, while Kuhayl Ibn Harmalah is majhul (unknown). Al-Hafiz Ibn Kathir said in his "Tafsir": This hadith is very gharib through this route.

Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its chain is very weak (wahin) because of Muhammad bin Abi Humayd, since there is agreement that he is weak and munkar al-hadith.

Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abd al-Wahhab bin Ata was shadh (committed an irregularity) and contradicted the other students of Sulayman al-Taymi, as found with al-Tabari 2/ 559, Ibn Khuzaymah (1338) and al-Bayhaqi 1/ 460: he narrated it from al-Taymi, from Abu Salih Mizan, from Abu Hurayrah, marfu' (whereas the correct version is mawquf).
