It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umm Maktum (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out one morning and said: "The Fire has been kindled for the people of the Fire, and trials have arrived like pieces of the dark night. If you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much."

Hadith Takhrij«
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This narration is "sahih li-ghayrihi", and there is no harm in its narrators. Technical note / Defect ('illah): However, Abu al-Bakhtari (Sa'id bin Fayruz) did not meet Ibn Umm Maktum (may Allah be pleased with him) (so there is a break). Abu Sinan is Sa'id bin Sinan al-Burjumi. Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah in his "Musnad" (809), al-Tabarani in "al-Awsat" (887) (and via him 'Abd al-Ghani al-Maqdisi in "Dhikr al-Nar", p. 69), al-Sahmi in "Tarikh Jurjan" (p. 490) and Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (5021) and "al-Hilyah" (2/ 4) narrated it through various routes from Ishaq bin Sulayman al-Razi, with this same chain. Technical note / Defect ('illah): A corruption has occurred in the texts of the "Musnad Ibn Abi Shaybah" and "Tarikh Jurjan". al-Tabarani says that this hadith is narrated from Ibn Umm Maktum only through this chain, and Ishaq bin Sulayman is alone in it! Reference / Source: al-Dulabi narrated it in "al-Kuna" (2/ 459) in suspended form (ta'liqan) via Hamzah bin Isma'il bin Qays, and Abu Tahir al-Mukhallis in "al-Mukhallisiyyat" (507) via Yahya bin Durays and Hamzah bin Isma'il together; both from Abu Sinan Sa'id bin Sinan. (2359). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A supporting report for it is the hadith of Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), which is in al-Bukhari (4621) and Muslim (2359). (901). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: This meaning is also supported by the hadith of 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), which is in al-Bukhari (5221) and Muslim (901). (8103). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: The supporting narration of Abu Hurayrah is in al-Bukhari (6485), and it will come with the author at number (8940); the narration of Abu Dharr has passed at number (3927), and that of Abu al-Darda' will come at number (8103).
