Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 675

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "None of you should ever urinate in his bathing place," for most of the whispering (waswasah) arises from this.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Important point: Regarding the words in this narration "fa-inna 'ammat al-waswas minhu" (for most whisperings come from it), the preponderant view is that they are the saying of Abd Allah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) himself (mawquf), as was explained earlier at number (604).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The narrators of the chain are identified as follows: 'Abu al-Muwajjih' is Muhammad bin Amr al-Fazari, 'Abdan' is Abd Allah bin Uthman al-Marwazi, 'Abd Allah' is Abd Allah bin al-Mubarak, and 'Ash'ath' is Ash'ath bin Abd Allah al-Huddani.
