The people of Paradise are the weak and the oppressed

أخبرنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن عبد الله الأصفهاني الزاهد، حدثنا أبو إسماعيل محمد بن إسماعيل، حدثنا عبد الله بن صالح، حدثني موسى بن عُليَّ ابن رَبَاح اللَّخمي، عن أبيه، عن سُراقة بن مالك بن جُعْشُم، أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال له: "يا سُراقةُ، ألا أُخبرُك بأهلِ الجنة وأهلِ النار؟ " فقلتُ: بلى يا رسولَ الله، فقال: " [أما] أهلُ النَّار فكلُّ جَعْظَريٍّ جوَّاظٍ مُستكبِرٍ، وأما أهلُ الجنَّة فالضعفاءُ المغلوبون" (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Suraqah bin Malik bin Ju'shum (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O Suraqah! Shall I not tell you about the people of Paradise and the people of the Fire?" I said: "Certainly, O Messenger of Allah!" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The people of Hell are every ill-mannered, quarrelsome and arrogant person, and the people of Paradise are the weak who are kept oppressed."

(1) صحيح لغيره، وهذا إسناد لا بأس برجاله غير عبد الله بن صالح ـ وهو المصري -فيعتبر به في المتابعات والشواهد، وقد توبع، لكن الإسناد إلى سراقة منقطع، فقد رواه عبد الله بن يزيد المقرئ -وهو ثقة متقن- عن موسى بن علي عن أبيه قال: بلغني عن سراقة بن مالك، كما سلف بيانه برقم (202). محمد بن إسماعيل: هو ابن يوسف السلمي الترمذي.
Grading: This hadith is "sahih li-ghayrihi".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): There is no problem with the narrators of this chain except Abd Allah bin Salih (al-Misri), whose hadith is considered in corroborating chains and supporting reports, and he is corroborated here as well. However, the chain up to Suraqah (may Allah be pleased with him) is "munqati'", because the trustworthy and precise narrator Abd Allah bin Yazid al-Muqri' narrated it via Musa bin Ali from his father with the words "balaghani" (it reached me), as passed under hadith number (202).
Note / Clarification: Here Muhammad bin Isma'il is "Muhammad bin Isma'il bin Yusuf al-Sulami al-Tirmidhi".
