It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Aswad bin Sari' (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: O Messenger of Allah! Shall I not recite to you the words of praise with which I have praised my Lord, the Mighty and Majestic? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, your Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, loves praise," and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said nothing more on that.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In manuscripts (M) and (S) this word was corrupted to "yasturuhu", whereas in manuscript (B) it appears in its correct form.
(2598). Grading: This narration is "sahih li-ghayrihi" on the basis of its supporting narrations. Technical note / Defect ('illah): All the narrators of this chain are thiqah; however, there is disagreement about whether Imam al-Hasan al-Basri heard directly from al-Aswad bin Sari', the details of which have already passed under hadith number (2598). Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad recorded it 24/(15586) via Awf bin Abi Jamilah, and Imam al-Nasa'i (7698) via Yunus bin Ubayd; both of them narrate it from Imam al-Hasan al-Basri with this same chain. Grading: This same narration will come at length in the next hadith, but its chain is weak. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Allah's love of praise (madh) is supported by the hadith of Abd Allah bin Mas'ud in Sahih al-Bukhari (4637) and Sahih Muslim (2760), whose wording is: "There is no one to whom praise is more beloved than Allah; for that reason He has praised Himself."
