أخبرنا أبو زكريا يحيى بن محمد العَنبَري، حدثنا الحسن بن علي بن نَصْر، حدثنا الزُّبير بن بكّار القاضي، حدثنا حسين بن سعيد بن هاشم بن سعيد من بني قيس بن ثَعلَبة، حدثني يحيى بن سعيد بن سالم القَدَّاحُ، عن أبيه، عن ابن جُرَيج، عن عطاء، عن ابن عبّاس قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ ليلةَ قُرْبِه من مكة فِي غَزْوة الفَتْح: "إنَّ بمكة لأربعة نَفَرٍ من قريشٍ أَربَأُ بهم عن الشِّرك، وأَرغَبُ بهم في الإسلام" قيل: ومَن هم يا رسول الله؟ قال: "عتّابُ بن أَسِيدٍ وجُبَيرُ بن مُطْعِمٍ وحَكيمُ بن حِزامٍ وسُهَيل بن عَمْرو" (1).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that on the night he drew near to Makkah during the Conquest of Makkah, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In Makkah there are four men of Quraysh whom I consider above shirk and whose acceptance of Islam I desire." It was said: O Messenger of Allah! Who are they? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Attab bin Asid, Jubayr bin Mut'im, Hakim bin Hizam and Suhayl bin Amr."

(1) إسناده ضعيف، حسين بن سعيد بن هاشم مجهول لم نقف له على ترجمة ويحيى بن سعيد القداح ليس بالقوي كما قال الدارقطني كما في ترجمته من "لسان الميزان" 8/ 443، وقال الذهبي في "الميزان": له مناكير.
Grading: Its chain is weak.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Husayn bin Sa'id bin Hashim is a majhul (unknown) narrator whose biography we could not find, while Yahya bin Sa'id al-Qaddah is not strong, as Imam al-Daraqutni said (Lisan al-Mizan 8/ 443). Imam al-Dhahabi wrote in "al-Mizan" that he has munkar (rejected) narrations.
والخبر في "جمهرة نسب قريش" للزبير بن بكار ص 362 - 363، ومن طريقه أخرجه أيضًا ابن عساكر في "تاريخ دمشق" 15/ 106. وفيه عن ابن جريج عن عطاء -وهو ابن أبي رباح- قال: لا أحسبه إلّا رفعه إلى ابن عبّاس قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ …
Reference / Source: This report is in al-Zubayr bin Bakkar's "Jamharat Nasab Quraysh" pp. 362-363, and through his route Ibn 'Asakir also recorded it in "Tarikh Dimashq" 15/ 106.
Details of the narration: It has the chain of Ibn Jurayj from 'Ata' (bin Abi Rabah), who said: I can only think that he traced it back through Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) as marfu'.
