Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 6657

It is narrated from Shabab that: Abu Basrah Humayl bin Basrah belonged to Banu Haram bin Ghifar. He died during the caliphate of Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), and a group of the Companions narrated hadith from Sayyiduna Abu Basrah (may Allah be pleased with him).

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The manuscripts add "bin Humayl", which is an intrusive insertion, since it is neither in "Tabaqat Khalifah" (pp. 32 and 291) nor mentioned by anyone else who wrote his biography.
Important point: "Shabab" is actually the nickname of Imam Khalifah bin Khayyat.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Whoever gave his name as "Jumayl" with a jim has committed a "tashif" (a misreading of the letters).
