It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of Uhud, while he was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), two of his teeth were broken. He relates: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to have teeth made of gold and fitted."

Explanation & Benefits

Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts "sinin" was written here, but the well-known and correct form is the one we have recorded in the text.
Grading: This is a "mawdu'" (fabricated) report. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its narrator 'Asim bin Sulayman al-Kuzi is a liar and a fabricator of hadith, and for this reason Imam al-Dhahabi declared it defective in "al-Talkhis". Reference / Source: Al-Bazzar narrated it in "Kashf al-Astar" (3011) and Ibn 'Adi in "al-Kamil" 5/ 237 by two routes from 'Asim bin Sulayman with this chain. Note / Clarification: Al-Haythami made an oversight in "Majma' al-Zawa'id" 5/ 150: after attributing it to al-Bazzar he said "its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih" (that is, its narrators are those of Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Probably he took 'Asim bin Sulayman al-Kuzi (the liar) to be 'Asim bin Sulayman al-Ahwal (who is a trustworthy narrator), which led to this mistake.
