Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 6631

It is narrated from Urwah, in his listing of the names of those Companions from the Ansar, of the tribe of Banu Khazraj, who took part in the Battle of Badr with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that among them was Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul (may Allah be pleased with him). Urwah says: His full lineage is Abdullah bin Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Malik bin Salim bin Ghanm bin Awf bin al-Khazraj.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The word "Abu" has dropped out of manuscripts (S) and (M).
Important point: Abu al-Aswad is Muhammad bin 'Abd al-Rahman bin Nawfal al-Qurashi al-Asadi, who is famous by the title "the orphan of 'Urwah".

Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts the word here has been corrupted into "Ghanim", while there is no "Ghanim" (with an alif) in the genealogies of the Ansar. (See: Jamharat Ansab al-'Arab by Ibn Hazm p. 354).
