أخبرني الحسن بن حَلِيم (1) المروَزي، أخبرنا أبو الموجِّه، أخبرنا عَبْدانُ، أخبرنا عبد الله، أخبرنا حَشرَجُ بن نُبَاتةَ، أخبرنا سعيد بن جُمْهانَ قال: أَتيتُ عبدَ الله ابن أبي أَوفى صاحبّ النبي ﷺ، فسلَّمتُ عليه وهو محجوبُ البصر، فقال لي: من أنت؟ قلت: أنا سعيدُ بن جُمْهان، قال: فما فَعَلَ والدك؟ قلت: قَتَلَته الأزارقةُ، قال: لَعَنَ اللهُ الأزارقةَ، حدَّثَنا رسول الله ﷺ أنَّهم كِلابُ النار (2). ذكرُ سَهْل بن سعد الساعدي ﵁-

It is narrated from Sa'id bin Jumhan that I came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him), the Companion of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and greeted him with salam while he had become blind. He asked me: "Who are you?" I said: I am Sa'id bin Jumhan. He asked: "How is your father?" I said: The Azariqah (a sect of the Khawarij) have killed him. He said: "May Allah curse the Azariqah! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated to us that they are the dogs of the Fire."

(1) تحرَّف في النسخ الخطية إلى: حكيم.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts it has been corrupted (miswritten) here into "Hakim" (whereas the correct name is something else).
(2) إسناده حسن من أجل حشرج بن نباتة. أبو الموجِّه: هو محمد بن عمرو الفزاري، وعبدان: هو عبد الله بن عثمان المروزي، وعبد الله: هو ابن المبارك.
Grading: Its chain is "hasan" on account of Hashraj bin Nubatah.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu al-Muwajjih is Muhammad bin 'Amr al-Fazari, 'Abdan is 'Abd Allah bin 'Uthman al-Marwazi, and 'Abd Allah is Ibn al-Mubarak.
وأخرجه أحمد 32/ (19415) عن أبي النضر عن حشرج بن نباتة، به.

والأزارقة: طائفة من الخوارج نُسبت إلى نافع بن الأزرق، خرجت على أمير المؤمنين علي بن أبي طالب ﵁ وكفّروه من أجل قضية التحكيم بينه وبين معاوية ﵁.
Note / Clarification: The "Azariqah" are a sect of the Khawarij attributed to Nafi' bin al-Azraq. They rebelled against the Commander of the Faithful 'Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) and (Allah forbid) declared him a disbeliever because of the "arbitration" (tahkim) between him and Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him).
