أخبرنا محمد بن إبراهيم الهاشمي وعلي بن محمد القاضي، قالا: حدثنا أبو كُرَيب، حدثنا أبو غسَّان عَبَاءَهُ (1) بن كُلَيب، عن حماد بن سَلَمة، عن أبي الزُّبير، عن جابر بن عبد الله قال: استَغفَرَ لي رسول الله ﷺ ليلةَ العَقَبة خمسةً وعشرين مرةً (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed for forgiveness for me twenty-five times on the night of the Pledge of al-Aqabah.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(1) تحرَّف في النسخ الخطية إلى: عباد، والتصويب من "تلخيص الذهبي" ومصادر ترجمته.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts this name has been corrupted (miswritten) into "'Abbad"; the correction is from al-Dhahabi's "Talkhis" and the sources of his biography.
(2) حديث صحيح، وهذا إسناد حسن من أجل عباءة بن كليب، وقد وهم في ذكر ليلة العقبة، والصواب: ليلة البعير.
Grading: This hadith is sahih, while this chain is "hasan" on account of 'Aba'ah bin Kulayb.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The narrator erred (wahm) in mentioning "the Night of al-'Aqabah"; the correct wording is "the Night of the Camel".
فقد أخرجه الترمذي (3852)، والنسائي (8191)، وابن حبان (7142) من طرق عن حماد ابن سلمة، بهذا الإسناد - وقالوا فيه: ليلة البعير. أي: في قصة شرائه ﷺ البعيرَ من جابر، وهي قصة مشهورة خرَّجها مسلم في صحيحه (1599) (109 - 117) وغيره.
