حدثنا أبو العبّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا العبّاس بن محمد الدُّوري، حدثنا إسحاق بن عيسى، حدثنا مِسكِين بن عبد الله - حرّانيٌّ ثقة - قال: سمعت حَجاجًا الصَّوَافَ يقول: حدثنا أبو الزُّبير المكّي، عن جابر بن عبد الله قال: غَزَا رسولُ الله ﷺ إحدى وعشرين غزوةً، وشَهِدتُ معه تسعة عشرَ غزوةً، وكان آخرَ غزوةٍ غزاها رسول الله ﷺ تَبُوكُ (3).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) undertook twenty-one military expeditions, and I took part with him (peace and blessings be upon him) in nineteen of them; and the last expedition in which he (peace and blessings be upon him) himself went out was the Battle of Tabuk.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

وأخرجه البيهقي في "دلائل النبوة" 5/ 461، ومن طريقه ابن عساكر 11/ 222 عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم وآخرين معه، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Bayhaqi in "Dala'il al-Nubuwwah" (5/ 461), and via him by Ibn 'Asakir (11/ 222), from Abu 'Abd Allah al-Hakim and others with him, with this chain.
وأخرجه البغوي في "معجم الصحابة" (280) عن عبّاس بن محمد الدوري، به -دون قوله: وكان آخر غزوة … إلخ.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by al-Baghawi in "Mu'jam al-Sahabah" (280) from 'Abbas bin Muhammad al-Duri, likewise, but without the words "And the last expedition was …".
وأخرجه كذلك أحمد 22 / (14523)، ومسلم (1813)، وعبد بن حميد (1065)، وأبو يعلى (2239) من طريق زكريا بن إسحاق المكي، عن أبي الزبير، به. اقتصر أحمد ومسلم على قوله: غزوت مع رسول الله ﷺ تسع عشرة غزوة، واقتصر الآخران على قوله: غزا رسول الله ﷺ إحدى وعشرين غزوة.
Reference / Source: Similarly it was narrated by Ahmad (22/ 14523), Muslim (1813), 'Abd bin Humayd (1065) and Abu Ya'la (2239) via Zakariyya bin Ishaq al-Makki, from Abu al-Zubayr, likewise.
Details of the narration: Ahmad and Muslim reported only the words: "I took part in nineteen (19) expeditions with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)", while the other two reported only the words: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) undertook twenty-one (21) expeditions".
