حدثنا أحمد بن سلمان الفقيه، حدثنا عبد الملك بن محمد الرَّقَاشي، حدثنا يعقوب بن [محمد] (1) حدثنا رِفاعةُ بن هُرَير، عن جدِّه رافع بن خَدِيجٍ: أَنَّ رسول الله ﷺ أجازه يومَ أُحدٍ وجعله في الرُّماة. ذكرُ سَلَمة بن الأكوَع ﵁-

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of Uhud the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him permission (to take part in the battle) and placed him among the archers.

(1) مكانه بياض في النسخ الخطية، واستدركناه من "إتحاف المهرة" (4528). وهو يعقوب ابن محمد بن عيسى الزهري، وشيخه رفاعة: هو رفاعة بن الهرير بن عبد الرحمن بن رافع بن خديج.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (1) In the manuscripts there was a blank space here, which we have filled in from "Ithaf al-Maharah" (4528). This (narrator) is Ya'qub bin Muhammad bin 'Isa al-Zuhri, and his shaykh Rifa'ah is "Rifa'ah bin al-Harir bin 'Abd al-Rahman bin Rafi' bin Khadij".
