حدثنا علي بن حَمْشاذَ العَدْل، حدثنا هشام بن علي، حدثنا حجاَّج بن نُصَير، حدثنا شُعبة، عن أبي إسحاق قال: سمعت أبا سَلَمة بن عبد الرحمن يقول: كان ابنُ عمر في زمانِه أفضلَ من عمر في زمانِه (3).

It is narrated from Abu Salamah bin Abd al-Rahman that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), in his own time (given the delicacy of circumstances, on account of his abstinence and steadfastness), was more virtuous than Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was in his own time.
