Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: The phrase "min hijamatihi" ("from his cupping") is found only in manuscript (S).
Grading: Its chain is "da'if" because the narrator Hunayd bin al-Qasim is unknown (majhul).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Hunayd's condition is not known, and no one but Musa bin Isma'il al-Tabudhaki is known to have narrated from him. Imam Ibn Hibban, following his habit (with unknown narrators), mentioned him in his book "al-Thiqat". Al-Haythami was inconsistent about this narrator: in one place in "Majma' al-Zawa'id" (1/ 28) he called him "majhul", and in another (8/ 270) declared him "thiqah". Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar was lenient and said in "al-Talkhis al-Habir" (1/ 30) "la ba'sa bihi" ("there is no harm in him"), but the truth is that this man is unknown.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi 'Asim narrated it in "al-Ahad wa al-Mathani" (578), al-Bazzar in "Musnad al-Bazzar" (2210), al-Hakim al-Tirmidhi in "Nawadir al-Usul" (198), Abu Nu'aym in "al-Hilyah" 1/ 329 and "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (4151), Ibn 'Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" 28/ 163-164, and al-Diya' al-Maqdisi in "al-Mukhtarah" 9/ (267), through various routes from Musa bin Isma'il al-Tabudhaki with this same chain.
Grading: The same meaning, concerning his drinking the blood, was narrated by Abu al-Qasim al-Baghawi in "Mu'jam al-Sahabah" (1503) and al-Daraqutni in "al-Sunan" (882), but this chain is "talif" (ruined, extremely weak).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In it, Muhammad bin Humayd al-Razi is weak, 'Ali bin Mujahid is "matruk" (one whose hadith is abandoned), and Rabah al-Nubi (mawla of the family of al-Zubayr) is unknown. The narration is from Asma' bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her).
Grading: Another route was given by Ibn al-Ghitrif in his "Juz'" (65), and via him by Ibn 'Asakir (20/ 233 and 28/ 162), with the chain of Sa'd bin Ziyad Abu 'Asim (mawla of Sulayman bin 'Ali) from Kaysan (mawla of 'Abd Allah bin al-Zubayr) from Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This chain too is "da'if". Imam Abu Hatim al-Razi said of Sa'd bin Ziyad Abu 'Asim, as in "al-Jarh wa al-Ta'dil", that he is "not solid (matin)". Although Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat", Kaysan (mawla of Ibn al-Zubayr) is an unknown narrator (la yu'raf).
