It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Guard the commands of Allah, and Allah will guard you. Observe the rights of Allah, and you will find Him before you. Know Allah in times of plenty and prosperity, and He will know you in times of hardship and difficulty. And know that whatever (harm or good) has reached you was not going to miss you, and whatever has missed you was not going to reach you. And know that if all of creation gathered together to give you something that Allah has not decreed for you, they would not have the power to do it; and if they gathered together to turn away from you something that Allah has decreed for you, they would not be able to do it. So when you ask, ask Allah, and when you seek help, seek help from Allah. And know that success comes with patience, and relief comes with distress, and indeed with hardship there is ease. And know that the Pen has already run with all the matters that are to happen."

Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts this name was distorted (tahrif) into "Ya'la".
Grading: Like the previous hadith, this is also "qawi" (strong) by all its routes together, though this particular chain is "da'if". Technical note / Defect ('illah): About the narrator 'Isa bin Muhammad al-Qurashi, Abu Hatim al-Razi said (as in "al-Jarh wa-l-Ta'dil" 6/ 286) that he is "not strong"; al-'Uqayli called him "majhul" (unknown), and Imam al-Dhahabi stated explicitly that 'Isa is not reliable (mu'tamad). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Here Abu Shihab refers to 'Abd Rabbih bin Nafi' al-Hannat, and Ibn Abi Mulaykah refers to 'Abd Allah bin 'Ubayd Allah. Reference / Source: al-Tabarani narrated it in "al-Kabir" (11243) and "al-Du'a'" (41), and al-Quda'i in "Musnad al-Shihab" (454), through 'Ali bin 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Baghawi, with this same chain.
