Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 6397

Nafi' bin Sarjis states: We visited Abu Waqid al-Laythi during the illness in which he died. When he died, we buried him in Makkah at Fakhkh, in the graveyard of the Muhajirun. It is called the graveyard of the Muhajirun because those who had emigrated to Madinah and then came to Makkah for Hajj or to reside there, and died there, used to be buried in it. Among them are Abu Waqid al-Laythi, Abdullah bin Umar and others. Abu Waqid al-Laythi died in the year 68 AH at the age of 85.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Reference / Source: Ibn Sa'd narrated it from Muhammad bin 'Umar al-Waqidi in "al-Tabaqat" 5/ 121, and from there Ibn 'Asakir cited it in "Tarikh Dimashq" 67/ 279.
Important point: There it is explicitly stated that the passage "wa-innama summiyat maqbarat al-Muhajirin" (and the cemetery of the Muhajirun was so named only because) to the end is al-Waqidi's own words.
Reference / Source: The opening part of this narration was narrated by Imam Ahmad 36/(21899 and 21908) via the route of Ibn Jurayj from Ibn Khuthaym.
Details of the narration: Nafi' bin Sarjis says that we went to visit Abu Waqid (may Allah be pleased with him) during the illness in which he died, and heard him say: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was the lightest of people in the prayer he led for others, and the longest of people in his own prayer".
Grading: Its chain is "hasan" on account of Nafi' bin Sarjis, and Ibn Jurayj has explicitly stated his hearing from Ibn Khuthaym.
