Explanation & Benefits

Grading: This narration is "sahih li-ghayrihi", but this chain is weak because Makhul al-Shami did not hear from Safwan ("inqita'"). Identification of names: Abu Wahb is 'Ubayd Allah bin 'Ubayd al-Kala'i al-Dimashqi. Reference / Source: Imam al-Tabarani narrated it in "al-Kabir" (7346) and "Musnad al-Shamiyyin" through two routes from Sa'id bin Sulayman al-Wasiti. (1997). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A supporting report for the prohibition of making nabidh in earthenware jars ("jarr") is the narration of 'Abd Allah bin 'Umar (Ahmad 8/ 4837, Muslim 1997). (17). Reference / Source: The narration of Ibn 'Abbas is in Musnad Ahmad, al-Bukhari (53) and Muslim (17). General principle: The ruling prohibiting the making of nabidh in vessels has been abrogated by the hadith of Buraydah al-Aslami, in which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I had forbidden you from drinking in vessels; now drink from whatever vessel you wish, but do not drink anything intoxicating." (Ahmad 38/ 23017, Muslim 977).
