Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 6228

It is narrated from Busr bin Sa'id that he said: We used to sit in the gathering of Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), and we would talk about the affairs of people and about jihad, and in the course of that conversation he would narrate hadiths of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari narrated it in "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" (2/ 124), Ibn Abi Khaythamah in his "Tarikh" (2263), and Ibn Asakir (20/ 362), via several routes from Abd Allah bin Wahb.
Note / Clarification: The word "yatasaqatu" is in our manuscripts (and in Ibn Abi Khaythamah), whereas al-Bukhari and Ibn Asakir have "yusaqitu". According to Ibn al-Athir it means "narrating in the course of conversation", that is, blending the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) into one's own speech.
