It is narrated from Mus'ab bin Abdullah al-Zubayri that Huwaytib bin Abd al-Uzza bin Abi Qays bin Abd Wadd bin Nasr bin Malik bin Hisl al-Amiri was among those who accepted Islam at the Conquest of Makkah. He died in the last part of the governorship of Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him), at the age of one hundred and twenty. His mother, and the mother of his brother Ruhm bin Abd al-Uzza, was Zaynab bint Alqamah bin Ghazwan bin Yarbu' bin Munqidh bin Amr bin Mu'ays. Huwaytib sold a house in Madinah to Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) for forty thousand dinars. When people expressed amazement at this large sum, he said: "What are forty thousand dinars to a man who has four dependents?"

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts this name has been corrupted to 'Muhays', while it is 'Ma'is', who is the son of 'Amir bin Lu'ayy.
Reference / Source: This is in Mus'ab al-Zubayri's "Nasab Quraysh" (p. 42), and he also added 'al-Harith' in it between 'Yarbu'' and 'Munqidh'. Note / Clarification: The story of his selling a house to Mu'awiyah will come shortly with the author (al-Hakim) at number (6203) in the narration of Ibn Abi al-Zinad from his father, and it is mentioned there that this house was in Makkah, not in Madinah.
