Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 6192

It is narrated from Muhammad bin Umar (al-Waqidi) that he said: I heard Abdullah bin Ja'far saying that Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the house of Sa'id bin Yarbu' and consoled him on the loss of his sight, and said: "Do not give up the Friday prayer or the congregational prayer in the mosque of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." He replied: "I have no one to lead me (a guide)." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "We will send you a guide." So he sent him a slave boy from among the war captives to serve him. The narrator says: Sa'id bin Yarbu' (may Allah be pleased with him) died in Madinah in 54 AH, and at the time of his death he was one hundred and twenty years old.
