Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Nu'aym is al-Fadl bin Dukayn, and 'Isa bin 'Abd al-Rahman is al-Bajali al-Kufi.
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban (7146) narrated it via Muhammad bin 'Abd al-Rahim Abu Yahya from Abu Nu'aym with this same chain.
Reference / Source: A similar narration was narrated by Imam Ahmad (30/ 18526), al-Bukhari (4124) and al-Nasa'i (8236) via Abu Ishaq Sulayman al-Shaybani; and also by Imam Ahmad (18650), al-Bukhari (3213, 4123, 6153), Muslim (2486) and al-Nasa'i (5980) via Shu'bah, both of them narrating from 'Adi bin Thabit. Al-Hakim's including it (in al-Mustadrak) is an oversight (dhuhul) on his part, because it is already in the two Sahihs.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (18642) and al-Nasa'i (8237) narrated it via Abu Ishaq al-Sabi'i from al-Bara' bin 'Azib.
