حَدَّثَنَا أبو العبّاس محمد بن يعقوب، حَدَّثَنَا أحمد بن عبد الجبار، حَدَّثَنَا يونس بن بُكَير، حدثني محمد بن إسحاق، حدثني صالح بن إبراهيم بن عبد الرحمن بن عَوْف، عن يحيى بن عبد الله بن عبد الرحمن بن أسعد بن زُرَارة، حدثني الثَّبَتُ (3) من رجال قومي، عن حسان بن ثابت قال: والله إني لغلامٌ يَفَعَةٌ ابن سبعِ أو ثمانِ سنين أَعقِلُ ما سمعتُ، إذ سمعتُ يهوديًّا وهو على أُطُمِه بيثربَ (4) يَصرُخ: يا معشرَ اليهود، فلما اجتمعوا قالوا: وَيلَكَ، ما لك؟ فقال: قد طَلَعَ نجمُ الذي يُبعَث الليلةَ (1).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: By Allah, I was then a discerning boy of seven or eight years, and I remembered whatever I heard, when I heard a Jew in Yathrib shouting from the top of his fortress: "O company of Jews!" When they had gathered, they asked: Woe to you, what is the matter with you? He said: "The star of the one who is to be sent (as a prophet) this night has risen."

(3) هكذا في نسخنا الخطية، وفي "السيرة" برواية يونس بن بكير (63) وغيرها: حدثني من شئت من رجال قومي.
Note / Clarification: It is like this in our manuscripts, while in "al-Sirah" in the transmission of Yunus bin Bukayr (63) and elsewhere the wording is: "Whomever you wish of the men of my people told me."
(4) تحرّف في النسخ إلى: بسرف، والتصحيح من مصادر التخريج. والأُطُم: مفرد جمعه آطام وأُطُوم، وهو القصر أو الحصن.
Note / Clarification: "Bisarif" in the manuscripts is a corruption; the correction is from the sources of the takhrij. "Al-utum" is a singular whose plural is "atam" and "utum", and it means a palace or a fortress.
(1) إسناده ضعيف لجهالة الواسطة بين يحيى وحسان بن ثابت.
Grading: The chain is da'if (weak) because the intermediary between Yahya and Hassan bin Thabit is "majhul (unknown)".
وهو في "سيرة ابن إسحاق" برواية أحمد بن عبد الجبار عن يونس بن بكير برقم (63).
Reference / Source: It is found in "Sirat Ibn Ishaq" (63).
وأخرجه البيهقي في "الدلائل" 1/ 109 - 110 عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد.

وأخرجه إسحاق بن راهويه في "مسنده" كما في "المطالب العالية" (4205)، وأبو نعيم في "دلائل النبوة" (35)، والبيهقي 1/ 109 - 110 من طرق عن محمد بن إسحاق، به.
