Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Important point: In the manuscripts available to us the word here was written "al-Yashkuri", which is an error (distortion), whereas the correct word is "al-Sukkari", as is clear from "Siyar A'lam al-Nubala'" (13/ 383) and the other biographies and sources on the narrator mentioned.
Note / Clarification: The word "amma" dropped out of manuscript (Z) and manuscript (B), i.e. it is not present in them.
Note / Clarification: In manuscript (S) this word is written "tu'ad" (without the ya').
Note / Clarification: In manuscript (Z) these words are narrated as "aman ashabi", in the genitive construction (idafah).
Note / Clarification: In manuscript (S) this word is given as "yu'adun" (in the imperfect form).
Grading: Its chain is weak.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The narrators 'Abd al-Rahman bin al-Hasan al-Qadi and Muhammad bin al-Mughirah al-Sukkari both have softness (lin, weakness), and the mention of the "Ahl al-Bayt" (Household of the Prophet) in this narration of theirs is "munkar" (contradicting trustworthy narrators). By contrast, the narration that Hafs bin 'Umar al-Mihriqani al-Razi (who is himself "la ba'sa bihi", i.e. acceptable) reported from al-Qasim bin al-Hakam al-'Urani has these words: "And my Companions are a safeguard for my Ummah; when my Companions depart, there will come upon my Ummah what they have been promised." These are the "mahfuz" (preserved) words of the hadith, as has already been explained in detail under hadith number (3717).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): There has been disagreement in the chain of this hadith from Muhammad bin Suqah, and what is preserved is that this narration is "mursal" from Muhammad bin al-Munkadir (i.e. the Companion link is not in between). In this irsal, Suhayl bin Abi Salih corroborated him, and both of them narrated it with the mention of the "Companions" instead of the "Ahl al-Bayt".
Reference / Source: Imam al-Tabarani narrated it in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" (20/ 846), "al-Mu'jam al-Awsat" (7467) and "al-Mu'jam al-Saghir" (967), Ibn Qani' in "Mu'jam al-Sahabah" (3/ 120) and al-Khatib al-Baghdadi in "Tarikh Baghdad" (4/ 114), by way of Hafs bin 'Umar al-Mihriqani, from al-Qasim bin al-Hakam al-'Urani, with this chain.
Reference / Source: Imam 'Abd al-Razzaq narrated it in his "Tafsir" (2/ 199) by way of Sufyan bin 'Uyaynah, from Muhammad bin Suqah and Suhayl bin Abi Salih, both of them from Muhammad bin al-Munkadir, as "mursal".
Important point: In place of this narration, the hadith of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) suffices, in which the first and third parts are mentioned; it is a "sahih hadith" whose takhrij has already been given under number (3717), and in it too the Companions are mentioned instead of the Ahl al-Bayt.
