Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 6031

It is narrated from Mus'ab bin Abdullah that among Banu al-Muttalib bin Abd Manaf is Qays bin Makhramah bin al-Muttalib bin Abd Manaf. His mother, Asma' bint Amir, was a woman of the Ansar.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Genealogical research: According to Mus'ab bin 'Abd Allah's "Nasab Quraysh" (pp. 92 and 398), the mother of Qays bin Makhramah was "Asma' bint 'Abd Allah bin Subay'", from the tribe of 'Anazah, and Ibn Sa'd also said the same in "al-Tabaqat" (6/ 42). Therefore the lineage mentioned in this narration of the author (al-Hakim) is "gharib" (odd and unusual)!
