It is narrated from Khalifah bin Khayyat that the kunya of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Adi bin al-Hamra' al-Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him) was "Abu Amr".

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
(5302). Important point: This is how Ibn al-Hamra's attribution appears in the narration of Khalifah bin Khayyat with the author (al-Hakim): "al-Thaqafi", even though what Khalifah did in his "Tabaqat" (p. 16) contradicts this. There he listed him among Banu Zuhrah of Quraysh as one of them by origin, and when he finished with him, he began mentioning the allies of Banu Zuhrah and listed a group of them. So what is in "al-Tabaqat" is the "mahfuz" (preserved) version from Khalifah bin Khayyat, even though attributing this man as "al-Thaqafi" is correct, as has been explained at number (5302).
