Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5927

It is narrated from Yahya bin Ma'in that some narrators report from Abdullah bin Malik bin Buhaynah, from his father; but this is a mistake, because his father did not narrate from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Rather, it is Abdullah himself who saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and Buhaynah is the name of his mother.

Explanation & Benefits

Note / Clarification: The name of Yahya bin Ma'in dropped out of the manuscripts, and we have restored it from "Tarikh al-Duri" (630), where he states explicitly that he heard Yahya bin Ma'in say this about Ibn Buhaynah.
