Abu al-Baddah bin Asim bin Adi narrates from his father that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to set out for Badr, he left Sayyiduna Asim bin Adi (may Allah be pleased with him) behind to watch over Quba and the people of al-Aliyah, because of something that had reached him (peace and blessings be upon him) about them. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) allotted him a share (of the spoils) and a reward (in the Hereafter), so he was (in merit) just as if he had been present in the battle himself.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
3/ 432. Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts it is written "Abdullah", which is an error. The correct name is taken from "Maghazi al-Waqidi" (1/ 160) and "Tabaqat Ibn Sa'd" (3/ 432).
Grading: The first chain is very weak (da'if jiddan) because of Abu Bakr bin Abi Sabrah, since Imam Ahmad accused him of fabricating hadith; moreover it is also "mursal". There is no harm in the men of the second chain, but it too is "mursal". However, it is the narration of Abu al-Baddah bin Asim bin Adi, who is relating a story about his father, and he knows more about him. And Ibn Umar (al-Waqidi) has been criticized. Reference / Source: It is in "Maghazi al-Waqidi" (1/ 160) with his second chain. Reference / Source: It is in "Tabaqat Ibn Sa'd" (3/ 432) from Muhammad bin Umar al-Waqidi with both of his chains.
