It is narrated from Muhammad bin Umar that the kunyah of Sayyiduna Asim bin Adi bin al-Jadd bin Ajlan bin Harithah bin Dubay'ah bin Haram bin Ju'al bin Amr bin Jusham bin Wadm bin Dhubyan bin Humaym bin Haniyy bin Baliyy bin Amr bin al-Haf bin Quda'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) was "Abu Amr", and it has also been said that his kunyah was "Abu Abdullah".

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In our manuscripts this name has been corrupted into "Ju'ayl" (in the diminutive form), whereas it appears correctly in the Mahmudiyyah manuscript (as in the al-Mayman edition), in agreement with the other books of genealogy, such as Ibn al-Kalbi's "Nasab Ma'add wa al-Yaman al-Kabir" (2/ 710), and Ibn Sa'd's "al-Tabaqat" (3/ 431 and 436) in the biographies of Ma'n bin Adi and Nu'man bin Asr.
Note / Clarification: In manuscripts (Z), (S) and (B) this name has been corrupted into "Hatm", and it has dropped out of (M). The margin of manuscript (S) indicates that this name is not in the original (al-umm), i.e., it was added from another source copy. The correction was made from the books of genealogy and "Tabaqat Ibn Sa'd" (3/ 431 and 436). Al-Daraqutni vocalized it in "al-Mu'talif wa al-Mukhtalif" (4/ 2306) with a fathah on the "ha'" and a kasrah on the "nun" (Hanim), as did Ibn Makula in "al-Ikmal" (6/ 150 and 7/ 391), and he declared mistaken whoever vocalized it with a dammah on the "ha'" and a fathah on the "nun" (as a diminutive).
