لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ مَنْ كَانَ فِي قَلْبِهِ مِثْقَالُ حَبَّةٍ مِنْ خَرْدَلٍ مِنْ كِبْرٍ
Whoever has an atom's weight of arrogance in his heart will not enter Paradise

حدثنا يحيى بن منصور القاضي، حدثنا علي بن عبد العزيز، حدثنا حَجّاج بن مِنْهال، حدثنا حماد بن سَلَمة، حدثنا عاصم بن بَهْدلةَ، عن مصعب بن سعد، عن أبيه: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ أُتِي بقصْعةٍ، فأكل منها ففَضَلَتْ منها فَضْلةٌ، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: "يجيءُ رجلٌ من هذا الفَجِّ من أهل الجنَّة فيَأْكُلُ هذه" قال سعد: وكنت تركتُ عُميرًا أخي يتوضَّأ، فقلت: هو عُميرٌ، فجاء عبدُ الله بنُ سَلَام فأكلَها (2). صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. ذكرُ مناقب سَلَمة بن سَلَامة بن وَقْش الأنصاريّ ﵁ -

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a bowl of food was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) ate from it and some food was left over. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man from the people of Paradise will now appear from this mountain pass and he will eat this leftover food." Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I had left my brother Umayr performing ablution (as I came), so I said (to myself): It will be Umayr. But Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) came and ate that food.
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(2) إسناده حسنٌ من أجل عاصم بن بَهْدلة: وهو ابن أبي النَّجُود. سعدٌ: هو ابن أبي وقاص.
Grading: Its chain is "hasan".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This is because of Asim bin Bahdalah (Ibn Abi al-Nujud). Sa'd is Ibn Abi Waqqas.
وأخرجه أحمد 3/ (1458) و (1591)، وابن حبان (7164) من طرق عن حماد بن سلمة، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (3/ 1458 and 1591) and Ibn Hibban (7164) narrated it via various routes from Hammad bin Salamah with this same chain.
وأخرجه أحمد (1592) من طريق أبان بن يزيد العطار، عن عاصم به.

وقد روى عامر بن سعد بن أبي وقاص عن أبيه قال: ما سمعتُ رسول الله ﷺ يقول لأحدٍ يمشى على الأرض: إنه من أهل الجنة، إلّا لعبد الله بن سلام. وقد تقدم تخريجه بإثر (5862).
Reference / Source: Amir bin Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas narrated from his father, who said: I never heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say about anyone walking on the earth that he is among the people of Paradise, except for Abdullah bin Salam. Its takhrij has passed after (5862).
Grading: Its chain is "hasan".
