Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5855

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Khawwat bin Jubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) to Banu Qurayzah, mounted on one of his horses, which was called al-Janah.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Hadith Grading
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: There is no harm in its men, but the "correct" view is that it is "mursal" from Ikrimah, without mention of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): For although Abd al-Aziz bin Yahya (Ibn Abd al-Aziz al-Kinani al-Makki) is saduq (truthful), he has errors (awham). And the hafiz students of Ibn Uyaynah contradicted him: they narrated it from Ibn Uyaynah, from Amr bin Dinar, from Ikrimah as "mursal", so this is the "mahfuz" (preserved) version. And Allah knows best.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah narrated it (12/ 522 and 14/ 414); Musaddad in his "Musnad" (as in Ibn Hajar's "al-Matalib al-'Aliyah" 4279) from Yahya bin Sa'id al-Qattan; and Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (2510) via Abd al-Jabbar bin al-Ala' al-Attar. All three (Ibn Abi Shaybah, Yahya al-Qattan and Abd al-Jabbar) narrate it from Sufyan bin Uyaynah, from Amr bin Dinar, from Ikrimah, as "mursal".
