Grading: The hadith is sahih, but Yunus bin Abi Ishaq (al-Sabi'i) erred in identifying the Companion.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In fact the Companion of this hadith is Nafi' bin Utbah bin Abi Waqqas, as a group of Abd al-Malik bin Umayr's students narrated it from him. Al-Daraqutni pointed this out in "al-Ilal" (3309). Al-Daraqutni also said that Yunus did not mention an intermediary between Abd al-Malik and Hashim; perhaps a narration of Yunus of that kind reached al-Daraqutni, for otherwise, in his narration with the author (al-Hakim) and in Abu Nu'aym's "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (6543), among others, Yunus mentioned "Jabir bin Samurah" as the intermediary, in agreement with the other students of Abd al-Malik bin Umayr. So the real issue remaining is only his error in the Companion's name.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abd al-Barr narrated it in "al-Isti'ab" (pages 747-748) via Abu Kurayb, from Qabisah bin Uqbah, with this same chain.
Reference / Source: Abu Nu'aym narrated it in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (6543) via al-Qasim bin al-Hakam al-Urani, from Yunus bin Abi Ishaq. Abu Nu'aym said: The students of Abd al-Malik narrate it from Nafi' bin Utbah bin Abi Waqqas. It will come with the author at number (5934) by way of Musa bin Abd al-Malik bin Umayr, and at (8517) by way of al-Mas'udi, both of them from Abd al-Malik bin Umayr, from Jabir bin Samurah, from Nafi' bin Utbah bin Abi Waqqas. See its takhrij there.
Reference / Source: Al-Bazzar (1230) narrated it via Ali bin al-Mundhir, from Muhammad bin Fudayl, from Yunus bin Abi Ishaq, from Abd Allah bin Jabir, from the nephew of Sa'd bin Malik, from Sa'd.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This is how it occurs (with errors) in al-Bazzar's chain, and it contains several mistakes, as is evident.
